Pilates as Foundation

Pilates is a mind-body exercise form that addresses the body as a whole unit, focusing on breathing, strengthening, stretching, balance and coordination.

All movement originates from control of the core stabilizing musculature of the pelvic and low back region.  Developed during World War I,  Joseph Pilates' proven system can be practiced on a mat working against gravity, or using equipment and props to assist or challenge the person in other ways. Its versatility and low impact make it appropriate for people seeking an invigorating new workout regimen as well as those recovering from injuries or with compromised abilities stemming from disease, pain or chronic conditions.
